Wren Academy's Principal is Michael Whitworth (pictured right). He took up the post in June 2007. Click here to read Michael's letter about the Academy.
Born and brought up in Northumberland, Michael graduated as an historian. After working in both private industry and the civil service, he entered teaching and has worked in schools in London, Hertfordshire and Essex.
Our Principal's record of achievement in leadership is substantial. In five years as Headteacher of Kelmscott School, Michael led the school into the top 100 most improved schools nationally, and into top 5 per cent nationally when the "value-added" measure was used. Education Minister Lord Adonis described the school's progress as "remarkable" and its leadership as "outstanding".
In his spare time, Michael enjoys family, running, reading and visiting galleries.
